Who can participate in DERI notices?
Unicamp undergraduate students who meet the academic performance and language proficiency requirements of the host university are eligible to apply. Students must also have a valid passport and be regularly enrolled at Unicamp.
How long is the exchange offered by the notices?
The exchange will be carried out for one academic semester at the host institution, and may vary according to the schedule of the partner university.
Regarding the notices managed by DERI, students must meet the minimum requirements described in “Registration, Approval and Removal“,among them Minimum Progression Coefficient (CP) of 0,25, not be in the last semester, have Standardized Ratio of Return (SRR) above 0,0001 and have a maximum of 14 failing credits. In addition to the minimum DERI requirements, the student must also meet the requirements demanded by the host university, which are listed in the notice.
If I do not meet the requirements set out in the notice, can I still apply, even if I know that I will not be selected?
No, because the minimum requirements stipulated in the notice are configured in the system at the time of its opening. Therefore, the SIGA system automatically blocks registrations of students who do not meet the minimum requirements defined in the notice.
How are CP, CRP, CR, etc. calculated?
Data such as CP, CRP, CR, failed credits, among others, are extracted by DERI and other bodies that manage exchange notices directly from the DAC system and refer to the course and main qualification of the student at the time of closing of registrations.
The calculation method for each of them appears in the regulations University graduate quality powder.
The indexes most used by DERI are the CRP (which compares the student with his/her own class and is different from the CR), the CP (which indicates the percentage of the course already completed) and the number of failed credits.
DERI is not responsible if the data extracted from the DAC does not correspond to what the student expected. The data is always that of the main qualification. If there are two or more, the data is usually that of the primary qualification.
Even with letters of support, it is not possible to make exceptions for students outside the standards described in notices.
How are rejections calculated?
Data such as CP, CRP, CR, failed credits, among others, are extracted by DERI directly from the DAC system and refer to the student's main course and qualification at the time of registration closure.
The failures and credits analyzed refer to the student's last entry. Failures in previous courses, however, continue to appear on the academic record, even if they do not count as failed credits.
DERI only has access to this data after registration is completed, therefore, we are unable to inform the student how many failing credits they have. Furthermore, DERI is not responsible if the data extracted from the DAC does not correspond to what was expected due to having another qualification or something similar.
Can I register for several notices at the same time?
Students may apply to as many notices as they wish, as long as they meet the requirements for each notice. However, after selection, if they confirm their interest in a notice, their application for all other notices will be automatically cancelled.
I don't have a passport yet and would need to get one. Can I register with the Federal Police using the passport collection protocol?
My current passport has expired, but I am in the process of applying for another one. Can I register with the passport collection protocol at the Federal Police?
The need to present the passport, its minimum validity period, as well as the alternative documents accepted, will be described in the Notice and must be complied with.
If the schedule of the announcement (including the periods of registration, selection, appointment and application of the student) allows the application with the passport application protocol, the student may participate in the process.
However, if sending the passport is a mandatory requirement of the host university for the student's nomination and/or application, and there is not enough time for the document to be issued, the application will be disqualified.
Is it necessary to prove language proficiency?
Yes, candidates must demonstrate at least intermediate knowledge of the English language (level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
However, this requirement may vary depending on the requirements of the foreign institution, and a more advanced level of English or even a specific level of proficiency in the official language of the host university may be necessary.
What is the Study Plan?
The study plan can be submitted as a separate document or integrated into an application form, indicating the subjects that the student intends to study at the destination university.
While some foreign universities require the completion and presentation of a study plan at the time of application, others do not. In any case, whether or not this document is mandatory will be clearly specified in the notice.
How to fill out the Study Plan? (before or during the exchange)
The student must include in the study plan the list of subjects that he/she intends to take at the destination university – preferably after talking to the course coordinator at Unicamp.
With the consent of the coordinator and the host university, DERI does not oppose students choosing subjects outside their area of study. One of the main benefits of staying at another university is the possibility for students to enrich their academic experience with subjects that are not typically found at Unicamp.
What to do if the study plan changes?
The study plan is not a definitive document, but rather a forecast of what the student intends to study at the host university during the exchange. Therefore, it is likely that, after arriving at the university, the student will choose new subjects and, therefore, change the initial study plan. In this case, the student can fill out a new form and send it by email to the coordinator.
If the notice requires a translated document, such as a school transcript and/or enrollment certificate, how should I do this?
The requirement to translate any document will be described in the notice.
If required, the student can translate the documents themselves.
The formatting of the translation is free, but following the DAC standard makes it easier for the foreign university of destination to compare the original document with the translation, if requested by the same.
The signature of the course coordinator is not mandatory on translated documents, but if the student wishes, he/she can request it. It is important to remember that the course coordinator is not obliged to sign such documents, and the student must accept this decision.
If an official translation is required by the host university, the student will need to hire a sworn translator, who can be found on the website Commercial Board of the State of São Paulo – JUCESP.
But be careful: if a sworn translation is required, this information will be explicitly stated in the notice.
Can DERI check documents or provide details on the number of applicants before selection?
No, because such action could harm other candidates who may not request information or document verification from DERI. Any intervention by DERI could be interpreted as favoritism. For this reason, DERI does not verify documentation and/or provide information about the number and/or other candidates.
What happens if the student does not send any of the required documents?
The lack of or incorrect submission of documents required in the notice results in the automatic disqualification of the candidate's application in the selection process.
Some Unicamp units have dual degree agreements with foreign universities. This means that students have the opportunity to study at both institutions (Unicamp and the foreign university) and receive diplomas from both, taking advantage of the credits for both curricular programs.
Double Degree (DD) notices are managed by professors in their academic units at Unicamp and they are the ones who define the necessary requirements for each program based on what is requested by the partner university. Most of the programs are undergraduate and have universities in Italy and, mainly, France as partners. To find out which are some of the notices that usually open and the requirements for each of them, we recommend consulting the past notices available on the Notices page on our website.
If there are any questions regarding these DD notices, the student must contact directly the responsible professor indicated in the Notice.
Students can register for more than one call at the same time, but when confirming interest in one call, registration for another is automatically cancelled.
Can I do an exchange program at foreign universities without being approved in the DERI notices?
Yes, however, in this case you will be classified as a student. free mover, who is the one who carries out an exchange on his own initiative.
Therefore, the application process and the organization of your stay must be carried out by you. Since you will be going on your own, your exchange will not be covered by any agreements that Unicamp may have with the host university, which means that you will not be exempt from the fees and monthly payments charged there.
Furthermore, the process of registration lock for the exchange must also be conducted by you, following the procedures established by the DAC and in accordance with the General Regulations for Undergraduate Studies.
Attention
Important:
DERI DOES NOT appoint students free movers, that is, students who were not selected in notices under their management and/or who will carry out the exchange on their own, even if they have complied with the application procedures required by the host institution.
In these cases, even if the destination university has an agreement with Unicamp and requests the appointment, we emphasize that DERI will NOT appoint students free movers.
