On May 8th, the Executive Directorate of International Relations (DERI) of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) held a virtual lecture, in partnership with the Consulate of Japan, about the MEXT scholarships (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan), offered by the Japanese government to students and researchers interested in pursuing studies in the country.
During the meeting, Stella Tanaka presented information about the application requirements, scholarship types, and the application schedule. The lecture also included the participation of Consul Eiji Takeya, reinforcing the partnership between Unicamp and Japanese institutions in promoting international academic mobility.
The event brought together students interested in study opportunities in Japan and provided a space to clarify doubts about the selection process and the academic experience abroad.
In addition to institutional guidance, MEXT scholarship recipients shared their academic trajectories and personal experiences in Japan. Gustavo Hirata recounted his study experience at Kyoto University of Education. Andreza Mattozo da Cunha shared her expectations for the start of her master's program in Japan, scheduled for this year.
Doctoral student Thales Marrafon, a former Physics student at the State University of Campinas, also participated in the meeting. Currently, he conducts his research at the National Institute of Informatics at SOKENDAI (The Graduate University for Advanced Studies) in Tokyo, and shared his academic experience and adaptation to life in Japan.
