On May 5th, the Executive Directorate of International Relations (DERI) at Unicamp received a visit from Fernando Sossa, executive secretary of the Montevideo Group Association of Universities (AUGM). The meeting focused on strengthening the University's role within the network and advancing joint initiatives in the area of regional academic cooperation.
During the meeting, Rafael Dias, Director of International Relations at Unicamp, highlighted that, although the University is part of several international networks, AUGM occupies a priority position in the institutional strategy, especially in the context of Latin America and the Global South. On that occasion, he reaffirmed Unicamp's commitment to a more active, collaborative, and strategic participation within the association.
The historical relevance of Unicamp within AUGM was also recognized, both for its consistent offering of places in academic programs and for the recent expansion of its participation in postgraduate studies.
Another highlight of the meeting was the discussion about the proposal to hold the AUGM Rectors' Council event in the state of São Paulo. The preliminary proposal foresees the first day taking place at Unesp and the second day at Unicamp, with a seminar bringing together authorities such as rectors of AUGM member universities and representatives of the Uruguayan and Brazilian governments.
