The rector of Unicamp, Paulo Cesar Montagner, received, this Thursday (23), representatives of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), from China. The meeting, held at the Unicamp Corporate Education School (Educorp), served to formalize a partnership of projects and research between the institutions. One of the most prestigious universities in Asia, with a strong focus on the areas of engineering, technology and health, HUST was founded in 1953 and is located in the city of Wuhan. A large public research university, it has around 55 students and more than 3,4 professors.
“This is a university with the characteristics of a medical and engineering school; very strong in innovation and in the health field. We can develop several initiatives and projects together. We have much to learn and, of course, to offer as well,” stated the rector. “In recent years, we have experienced exponential growth in these partnerships, and this amplifies the importance of Unicamp as one of the great institutions of the Global South. We are always expanding our partnerships and thus opening new paths,” added Montagner.

The meeting marked the formalization of the partnership; HUST is a large public research university with approximately 55 students and more than 3,4 professors.
The Chinese university offers courses in mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering, as well as computer science. In the health field, it stands out for its strong tradition in clinical medicine and public health, supported by affiliated leading hospitals. In the field of science and innovation, the institution conducts high-impact research in areas such as materials, chemistry, and applied physics.
Internationalization
In its academic structure, HUST has over 100 undergraduate courses, approximately 200 master's programs, more than 180 doctoral programs, and 39 postdoctoral centers. Internationalization is one of the strategic pillars of the foreign institution, as well as of Unicamp.
The Chinese still maintain active cooperation with academic centers in various countries, offer programs in English—especially at the postgraduate level—and participate in scholarship initiatives such as the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC), attracting students from different parts of the world.
