On April 16, 2026, the Executive Directorate of International Relations (DERI) received a delegation from the University of Stavanger (Norway) to discuss academic mobility opportunities and potential partnerships in the energy and oil sectors.

The Norwegian delegation, composed of six representatives, was led by Are Straume, head of global cooperation at the Directorate for Higher Education and Skills. Representing Unicamp were the director of the Center for Energy and Petroleum Studies (CEPETRO), Marcelo Souza de Castro, and the international relations advisor, Heloisa Claro, who attended the meeting remotely, as well as members of DERI and researchers from CEPETRO.

The institutional meeting was held at CEPETRO, where possibilities for scientific and academic collaboration were discussed, especially in energy and petroleum, strategic areas for both Brazil and Norway. Following this, the delegation conducted a technical visit to the center's laboratories, learning about its infrastructure and the research activities carried out there.

The meeting focused on strengthening academic mobility between the institutions, encompassing opportunities for both Unicamp students at the University of Stavanger and Norwegian students in Brazil.

During the meeting, the UiS delegation presented its academic structure, courses offered, and training opportunities in English. The importance of initiatives such as Utforsk, a Norwegian government program that funds educational partnerships and joint research projects, promoting the mobility of students and faculty in areas such as energy, climate, and the environment, was also highlighted.
